Our company is looking for a Playout Software Video Engineer to join our Product full-time.

The Product is a leading free streaming television service in America, delivering 250+ live and original channels and thousands of on-demand movies in partnership with major TV networks, movie studios, publishers, and digital media companies. The system is available on all mobile, web and connected TV streaming devices and millions of viewers tune in each month to watch premium news, TV shows, movies, sports, lifestyle, and trending digital series. LA, New York, Silicon Valley, Chicago and Berlin.

About the role

Playout services focus on the playback portion of the ecosystem - manifest generation, server-side ad insertion, DRM handling, etc. As a result of the role the Playout services play, the team is involved with a lot of business feature. The Product has great exposure to a variety of teams, initiatives, and technologies.

With the team you will support several services, and also:

Responsibilities:

• use NodeJS with newer services migrating to GoLang in your day-to-day work;

• contribute with a team of engineers to support an industry-leading Over-the-Top (OTT) software platform;

• attend regular sprint meetings, and work closely with other engineers to fix bugs, work on technical debt, and design & implement features;

• be mentored by a senior engineer. This mentoring will come in the form of pair programming, “onboarding buddy”, etc.

Required skills

• 2+ years of experience with scripting languages for backend - NodeJS (prefered), Python, Ruby, etc;

• 1+ year of experience with OTT: HLS and DASH; DRM - FairPlay, WideVine, or PlayReady;

• 4+ years of experience in a relevant field (engineering, physics, mathematics, etc);

• Skills in Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, Cloudformation, Kubernetes, Helm;

• Knowledge in GitHub, GitHub Actions;

• Experience with Jenkins, Circleci, Ansible, Salt, etc;

• Experience with Microservices Architecture;

• Use of Testing Best Practices: Unit Tests, Automated test suites;

• Knowledge and understanding of Software Design Best Practices: Encapsulation, Decoupling;

• Upper-Intermediate level of English or higher;

• Ability to work a regular on-call rotation shared equally between the team members.
