Our company is looking for a Site Reliability Engineer to join our Product full-time.

The Product is a leading free streaming television service in America, delivering 250+ live and original channels and thousands of on-demand movies in partnership with major TV networks, movie studios, publishers, and digital media companies. The system is available on all mobile, web and connected TV streaming devices and millions of viewers tune in each month to watch premium news, TV shows, movies, sports, lifestyle, and trending digital series. LA, New York, Silicon Valley, Chicago and Berlin.

Stack of Technologies:

About the role

Responsibilities:

• Ensuring that best practices are considered and implemented along the way;

• Working with engineers and product managers to define SLOs;

• Working with engineers to implement SLIs;

• Verifying the features are launched with appropriate alerting and monitoring attached to a well-defined threshold and error budget based on availability;

• Holding the engineers accountable for creating and maintaining runbooks for each alert.

Additionally, the SRE team works closely with the DevOps team to create Wheel of Misfortune events for the developers. The SRE team will identify a scenario for each event. These scenarios are meant to simulate a production incident. The scenario may be a re-creation of a past production incident or exacerbating an existing flaw in the ecosystem. All are contained within a safe environment.

During the Wheel of Misfortune events, the developers will get paged as if it were a production incident. Developers proceed to identify the alert, find the runbook, validate the steps, and mitigate the issue. The SRE and DevOps teams help the developers identify holes in accountability and ownership - and we follow up to close the gaps.

Required skills

• Experience with Terraform, Kubernetes, and Helm - and general IaC;

• 2+ years of experience with SLOs/SLIs, monitoring & alerting:

- TSDB (e.g. Prometheus) + Grafana (or similar);

- OpenTelemetry (OpenTracing, or similar);

- Error Budgets, Golden Signals, Etc.;

• 4+ years of experience in a relevant field (engineering, physics, mathematics, etc);

• Upper-Intermediate level of English or higher.

Will be a plus:

• Experience with NodeJS or GoLang;

• Experience with Microservices Architecture;

• Knowledge of Software Design Best Practices.
